Evelyn “Rosie” Henrietta Savage Maddox Doanes

Evelyn “Rosie” Henrietta Savage Doanes, 96, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, September 12, 2011 at Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, Maryland.

Born November 20, 1914, to the late  Marion Savage and Ceily Robinson Savage in Kingston, Maryland, she started her Christan journey at Waters Chapel United Methodist Church in Kingston, Maryland.  Evelyn joined Highway Holiness Church in Hopewell, Maryland in the mid 1980’s.  In 2007, she was called to assist her daughter, Pastor Marcella Styles with Jesus Ministry Faith and Healing Church and served as a faithful member of the church until her death.

Evelyn was a very peaceful, quiet, dedicated, loving and caring mother.   She was also a mother to everyone who came in contact with her.  Affectionately called, “Ms. Evelene”, “Bean” and “Muh,” by most, she enjoyed her family, crocheting, knitting, music, eating, laughter and life.

Evelyn leaves to mourn her death five children, Mable (Hinson) Finney of Pocomoke City, Maryland; Javan (Delores) Styles of Salisbury, Maryland; Marcella Styles and Equilla (Harold) Stokely of Marion, Maryland; and Thomas (Annie Lois) Savage of Bloomfield, Connecticut; sixteen grandchildren Tywana (John), Stanford, Leroy, Preston, Ralph (Tamika), Cheryl (Eric), Sherry, Angela, Atia, Jometta (Roger), Kevin (Val), Tanya, Lavon, Maragret, Ceasra, Keith and Rhianna (Paul); a host of second and third generation of grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Emma Shrieves, Lillian Bogan and Ruth Savage;  one brother-in-law Morris Doane; Magnolia Steward who was like a daughter to her; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Raymond “Hunchie” Doanes, four sons, two daughters, one grandson, one granddaughter, two brothers and five sisters.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Highway Holiness Church in Hopewell, Maryland where friends may call one hour prior.  Friends may also call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at the church.  Interment will be held at Waters Chapel United Methodist Church in Kinsgton, Maryland.
