Alfred Henry Hall also affectionately known as “Pop”, the oldest son of the late E. Alverta “Birdie” Hall Jones and Frederick Corbin, Jr., was born on September 27, 1964 at Peninsula General Hospital, Salisbury, Maryland.   He suddenly departed this life into eternal peace at the age of 50 on Saturday, April 4, 2015; his final resting place was his family home in Oaksville, MD.

He was raised by his grand-mother “Mama Dorothy,” Dorothy C. Hall and his aunt Viola Mason, along with his mother.  As a young boy he attended St. Mark United Methodist church in Oaksville, where he recently rededicated his life to Christ and continued to serve as both member and usher at St. Mark and Metropolitan United Methodist Churches under the leadership of Rev. Ronald Bell, Sr.

Pop graduated from Washington High School and continued his education at Bowie State University on an athletic scholarship.  In high school and at Bowie, he excelled in several major sports, with baseball being his favorite.  After his college years he continued to play community ball.

Upon completing college he moved to Baltimore, MD to commence his professional career in management for Edison parking as one of their youngest parking lot managers.  He continued his management career for a span of 15 years including several major grocery chains.

In 1987 he met and later married Elva Scott and from this union the “Love of his life” Alexis Evalyna Alverta Hall was born.  He also adopted Tammy Wright and raised her as his own.

Pop loved to talk and was very knowledgeable on all subjects and talked whether you wanted to listen or not.  He was a free spirited and kind hearted person.

In addition to his father, he is survived by one daughter, Alexis and her mother Elva Hall and Tammy Wright; one sister Lisa Fontaine; four uncles, James Hall, Sr. (Leona), Eldon Hall, Sr. (Dierdra), Weldon Corbin, Sr., and Floyd Corbin (Shirley); five aunts, Viola Mason, Gladys Hall, Janice Hall, Christine Gillette (Linwood), and Jenester Corbin; sister/cousin Sonja Mason, beloved cousin Latrice Hall, his longtime friends and brothers in Christ, Pastor Carlos Bounds, Ross Holbrook and Perry “Maynard” Hall, many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that he loved as well.   He was preceded in death by his grand-parents, Milton W. and Dorothy C. Hall, brother, Levi Fontaine, and uncles Clifton Hall, Sr. and Darnell B. Hall.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his brother Levi Fontaine and his step father Albert Jones.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Saturday April 11, 2015 at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Oaksville where friends may call two hours prior. Pastor Carlos Bounds will be the Eulogist and Pastor Ronald Bell will Officiate. A viewing will also be held 2-7 p.m. Friday April 10, 2015 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Interment will be in Oaksville Community Cemetery.

  2. To the family of “PoP”, as you transition thru the process of mourning may Gods word manifest to you and become a testiment for you. Just keep his memories close and dear to your hearts….and remember, the one thing that we all know about “PoP”…”HE COULD PLAY SOME BASEBALL!!!!”

  4. I am so deeply sorry to hear that Al is gone. He will truly be missed! Al always had a smile on his face and I always enjoyed talking with him. Al looked out for me at the open lot parking by our building when I first started working downtown and probably taught me a little street smarts too. Elva and Al are both special people and my thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family!
