Remonia A. Finney

Finney123Remonia A. Barkley Finney, daughter of Margaret Gunther-Barkley and the late Howard A. Barkley went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at her residence in Eden, Maryland.

Remonia attended the Public Schools of Somerset County and furthered her education with M.V.A. in Salisbury, Maryland.

Remonia joined Flower Hill United Methodist Church at an early age and continued her ministry with New Psalmist Non-Denominational Church in Westover, Maryland.  She later transferred her ministry to Trinity Faith Christian Center in Fruitland, Maryland under the leadership of Pastor Violet Jones.

Remonia was a faithful and devoted member who loved the Lord with all her heart, mind and strength.  She was very active with many organizations within the church.

In addition to her mother, Margaret Gunther-Barkley of Princess Anne, she leaves to cherish her memories with the love of her life for 22 years, her husband, Robert L. Finney of Eden; one granddaughter, Keisha Donahue; one sister, Martha Barkley Cottman of Eden; three stepdaughters, Katrina, Tara and Chimere’ Finney, all of Salisbury and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Donald A. Banks, Jr.; five brothers, Frederick, Herman, Oliver, John “Jack”, and Alphonso Barkley and one nephew, Thomas Cottman.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Trinity Faith Christian Center in Fruitland, Maryland.  With a viewing one hour prior. Pastor Violet Jones will be the Eulogist.  A viewing will also be held 6:00 PM-8:00 PM on Saturday at the Church.  Interment will follow at Flowerhill Cemetery in Eden, Maryland.

  1. My deepest condolences to the Barkley/Finney Families during your time of sorrow. I remember talking to her a few years ago when working on genealogy. What a wonderful bright soul. My prayers for your peace and comfort.

  2. May God give the family peace and strength during this difficult time! Remonia was a good, funny woman with a sweet spirit. We worked together at MVA and she always had me laughing. She was there for me when my stepfather died, and I truly appreciated that. I will truly miss her!
