Bessie Holden

 

Bessie Lillian Spady Holden, daughter of the late Isaiah and Hattie Waters Spady was born on September 12, 1919 in Pocomoke City, Maryland.

Bessie answered the call of her Divine Master on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

Bessie received her education in the Public Schools of Somerset County Maryland.

On August 3, 1935 she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Fulton Holden.  The marriage ceremony was performed by the late Rev. D. Graham at the church parsonage.  At the time of the demise of her husband, they were blessed with 74 years of marriage.

Bessie joined Ebenezer United Methodist Church at a very early age and remained a member until her death.  At Ebenezer she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Fellowship Choir.

Bessie and her husband was employed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for many years.  Bessie retired from the Rubberset Company in 1981.  After her retirement she became a private care provider.

Bessie was a wonderful, caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Those left to cherish a life well lived are:  one son, Michael E. Holden; four grandsons, Lemonte (Brittney), Cameron, Dontee and David (April) ; nine great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Calvin Hall, Sr. and William Ward, Sr.; three sisters-in-law, Tyvoila Holden, Lois Ward and Louise Whittington; two brothers-in-law, Calvin Hall and William Ward; a host of nephews, nieces and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 19, 2016 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Marion Station.  With a viewing one hour prior.  Interment will be at the church cemetery.

  1. The death of a loved one is hard to bear. Please take comfort in knowing that your heavenly father understands your pain as he too experienced the death of his only son, Jesus Christ.
