Gavin Orlando Ames was the son of Robin Orlando Ames, of Crisfield, MD and Sherrylee Wharton of Fruitland, MD. Born on February 25, 1987, Gavin departed his life on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, at the age of 29. While Orlando and Sherrylee were his parents, he was raised by his late grandparents, Jane “Ukie” Horsey and John “Jughead” Horsey. Gavin was that special grandchild and there was absolutely no way and no one who could take Lil’ Lando away from Ukie; he was her heart!

Gavin, Young “G”, Iron Mike, Lil’ Lando, or G-Money, as many would call him, was educated in the Somerset County Public Schools. He held employment at various poultry companies here on the Eastern Shore. In his younger years, Gavin would attend Shiloh with Aunt Debbie, or “Aunt Bebbie” as he called her, and his cousins. Gavin was always known to hang out with his friends and family, and frequently spent time as part of “Three Musketeers” Gavin, Brandon and TJ.

In addition to his parents, Gavin is survived by: two brothers, Kevin Campbell of Salisbury, MD and Matthew Hammock of Fruitland; one sister, Sheena Ames of Fruitland; two nieces, Kourtney White and Shanique Campbell; seven uncles, Greg Ames of Cambridge, MD, Riley Ames of Essex, MD, Mike Horsey of Crisfield, Terry “Dave” Davis, Nathan Ward, Allen Ward and Bobby Johnson, all of Dover, DE; six aunts, Vivian Freeman of Titusville, FL, Debbie Horsey of Crisfield, Barbara Ward of Dover, DE, Joyce Taylor of Salisbury, and Valerie White of Princess Anne, MD; two great aunts, Gloria Ames of Miami, FL and Omeda Timmons of Philadelphia, PA; two aunts-in-law, Robin and Lucy Ames and two great nephews as well as a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

Gavin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jane and John Horsey, Sedonia and Jack Wharton; great grandmother, Rosie Ames and one aunt, Dina Maddox.

Gavin had a host of close family and friends that he truly loved. However, there were a few special cousins, DeAlma and DeAnna Ward, Brandon Ames, TJ Peyton; a few special friends whom he hung with on a regular basis, Willard Hearne, Alphonso Smith, Shane and Eric Ball.

A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Crisfield with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be held 6 to 8 PM Friday at the church.

Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Crisfield.
