Vesta Vinetta “Peaches” Braxton

Vesta Vinetta BraxtonVesta Vinetta (Peaches) Braxton departed her life on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland. She was born to the late Mary C. Whitlor and Robert Francis Whitlor on June 4, 1943.

Vesta received her education in the Somerset County Public School system. She worked for L&E Farms in Westover for many years.

She enjoyed attending special services and anniversaries at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Westover.

Vesta was married to Franklin R. Braxton for 44 years. She had an undying love for her children and leaves to mourn, four sons and two daughters, Melvin Whitlor Sr. and Alvin White, both of Princess Anne, Calvin White and Francis White, both of Salisbury, Victoria White of Princess Anne and Felicia Matthews (Elroy) of Delmar; two brothers, Clarence Whitlor (Linda) of Youngstown, OH and Warren  Ballard (Judy) of Princess Anne; one sister, Mary Collins (Benjamin) of Westover; two brothers-in-law, Eugene  Braxton  (Michelle)  of Baltimore  and  John  Braxton  of  Princess  Anne;  four sisters-in-law, Margaret Jones, Marlene Braxton, Beverly Fontaine, all of Princess Anne and Joyce Savage (Gregory) of Baltimore; five grandsons, Melvin, Jr., Earl, Jamar, Shayquan and Amontre; four great granddaughters, Jzania, Samiyah, Aaliyah and  Peyton;  one great grandson,  Marjzir  and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

Vesta was a fun loving but gentle person. She left an impact on anyone she came in contact with. She always had a conversation that would keep you laughing. She enjoyed watching soap operas, playing lottery numbers and her old time favorite going to the slots.

Vesta was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Clifton Collins and Isaac Jones.

A funeral service will be held 2 PM Friday, May 27, 2016 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Upper Hill with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be held 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Interment will be in the Waters Family Cemetery in Upper Hill.

  1. The death of a loved one is hard to bear. Please take comfort in knowing that your heavenly father understands your pain as he too experienced the death of his only son, Jesus Christ.
