Richard Andrew “Ludie” Sterling, 73, of Crisfield, Maryland transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Salisbury, Maryland. Born June 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles Horsey and Ruby Sterling.
“Ludie” as he was affectionately called attended Collins Street Elementary School and was a graduate of the former Carter G. Woodson School. Upon graduation Ludie enlisted in the United States Air Force.
In later years while living in New York he worked for the Railroad and upon returning to Crisfield he worked for Mrs. Paul’s Kitchen.
Ludie was known for making you laugh and could tell a joke and keep a straight face.
He is survived by: one brother, McKinley Sterling (Peggy) of Farmers Branch, Texas; one sister, Frances Sterling of Crisfield; several nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Larry Sterling and two sisters, Jean McCready and Betty Sterling.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2016 at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Marion Station with a viewing one our prior. A viewing will also be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at the church. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Crisfield.

I remember wonderful attributes about Richard…he was sensitive, occasionally cynical, whitty and surprisingly insightful. Richard loved life to the fullest extent possible. He will be forever in our hearts. Rest In Peace Richard.
The death of a loved one is hard to bear. Please take comfort in knowing that your heavenly father understands your pain as he too experienced the death of his only son, Jesus Christ.
