Mervin Conner

Mervin “Bandito” Conner, 71, of Crisfield, MD formerly of Wattsville, VA, departed this life Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his residence. Born August 14, 1945, he was the son of the late Herbert and Madeline Chandler-Connor.

Mervin was educated in the Public School System of Sussex County, Delaware.  In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father.  His greatest love was baseball (he was the pitcher for his school team) and faithfully watched baseball on TV.  His favorite team was the New York Yankees.

Mervin had been employed with Holly Farms (now Tyson) for a period of time as was various other jobs.

He attended House of Refuge Outreach Ministries and John Wesley United Methodist Church in Marion, Maryland.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Taylor Conner; three daughters, Lisa Bolden, Tijuana Vann Neily (Rodnei) and Ardie Bolden; one stepson, William Anthony Horsey; one stepdaughter, Kimbley Abbott (Arthur, Jr.); nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four sisters, Peggy Bishop, Nancy Duffy, Norisa Jacob-Long and Angeline Zweigle; two uncles, Alton Conner (Hilda) and Edward W. Conner; two aunts, Lena Miller (Herman) and Elizabeth Harmon; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Gladys Christy-Dix.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Saturday, March 18, 2017 at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Marion Station, MD with a viewing one hour prior. A public viewing will be held 4:00 – 6:00 PM Friday at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD. Interment will be in Mt. Peer Cemetery in Marion Station.

  1. Rip Mervin, I just visited you on march 4th and you gave me a fishing pole and we talked awhile, now you are back with my mother again in heaven …

    I have known Mervin for about 36 years. Along with his deceased father, Mr Herbert Connors, we were very good friends and hunting buddies. I miss the shared experience of the outdoors, the comradeship and the humor.
