…the beginning and the end…Cynthia A. Murray-Whittington, 69, daughter of the late George W. and Alice Murray, was born July 28, 1947 in Crisfield, Maryland.  She heard her Father’s call on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland and to come rest with Him, and be at peace.  Her journey was over.

Cynthia was raised in Crisfield.  She received her education at Carter G. Woodson School in Crisfield.  She became employed at Rubberset-Sherwin Williams Company in 1967 and retired in 2010 after 43 years of service.

Cynthia was a faithful and dedicated member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.  She truly loved the Lord and her church and church family.  She was President of the Usher Board and member of the Sanctuary Choir.  Cynthia along with her “Sweetie” Upshur, were normally the first two members to arrive to church on Sunday morning.  She truly trusted the Lord and no matter what was going on in her life, she praised Him at all times with one of her favorite quotes; “I’m alright, God’s got me covered”.

Cynthia was not only a God fearing woman, she was kind hearted, loving and a giving person who devoted her time not only to her church but to anyone who had a need.  Whenever and wherever you saw Cynthia, you saw her “bright welcoming smile” even sometimes when she wasn’t feeling well.  She was a “blessing” to many and will truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish lots of wonderful and precious memories with her two loving and devoted daughters, Lisa R. Murray and Briantae Whittington; four grandchildren, Melanie, Marcus, Ivan, Jr. and Cynphanie; two great grandchildren, Alani and Austin; one brother, George F. Murray; eight nieces, Angelia, Monique, Lynette, Fredia, Felisha (Jody), Theresa (Lemuel), Tonja (Derrick) and Eugena; her “sister from another mother”, Mary Bacon-Bivens; best friends, Diane Newlin, Margie Lane, Betty Marsh, Anna Laird and LaVerne Johnson; and a host of   cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her “twin” sister, Carolyn A. Murray-Stewart.

A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 109 N. Fourth Street, Crisfield with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the church.

Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Crisfield.
