Lake

 Mrs. Jane Carr Lake was born and raised in Somerset County, Princess Anne.  She was the daughter of the late Leon Henry Carr, Sr. and Theresa Roberts Carr.

Jane received her formal education in the Somerset County Public School System.  She later graduated from Bowie State College in Bowie, Maryland.  After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she went on to pursue her life long career as an educator.  Jane started her teaching career in Accomack County, Virginia and continued in the Somerset County, Maryland School System where she retired after 35 years of devoted service.

Jane loved her students as if they were her own children.

Jane was wed in holy matrimony to the late Edward R. Lake, Sr., their union lasted for 54 years.  Jane was a kind loving mother. She and her husband, Edward raised their three children to adulthood.  Jane always had a pleasant smile and kind words to greet everyone she met in this life.

She will be dearly missed by one son, Edward R. Lake, Jr.; one daughter, Alva Birks; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Carr Fields and a host of nephews, nieces other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Lake. Sr.; one daughter, Gwen Lake; one brother, Leon H. Carr, Jr.; three sisters; Sedonia Plummer, Constance Flanagan and Lois Jones.

Mother we love you and we will miss you!

A Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM.

Interment will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday at John Wesley (Bowland Hill) Cemetery in Princess Anne.
