Lottie Ann Moses

Lottie A. Moses

Lottie Ann Moses, 85, departed this life on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by her children, grandchildren, sisters, brother and other family and friends. Born March 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Raymond, Sr. and Hettie B. Polk.

“Lot” as she was affectionately called by her family and friends was educated in the public schools of Somerset County.  She met and married Ralph E. Moses, Sr. and from that union seven children were born.

At an early age, Lot accepted Christ as her personal savior and was a member of St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church in Princess Anne until her health began to fail. She was a member of the Senior choir, which at that time was the Voices of St. Mary’s Choir.  Her favorite hymns were “Come on in the Room” and “Better Days”.

She was a character. She would always tell Sweetie, “Gal you always calling on Jesus, he isn’t going to have time to help anybody else.”  She would tell her grandchildren, nieces and nephews when they entered her house “you all are getting big as a house”. All of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were her favorite but it was the one she was talking to at that time.

Lot leaves to cherish fond memories with her four daughters; Patricia Moses, Virginia (Marshall) Corbin, Brenda (Runcie) Dale and Victoria (Kevin) Handy; two sons, Ralph (Ophelia) and Timothy “Clem” Moses; one daughter-in-law, Carrie Moses; twenty-six grandchildren,  nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Jones and Jennie (Percy) Chase; one brother, David (Joyce) Polk all of Princess Anne, MD; two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Polk and Gerldine Mitchell; two brothers-in-laws, Keith and Melvin Moses; a special young man Andre “Duke” Maddox, who she treated like a grandson, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Moses, Sr.; one son, Claudius “Joe Boy” Moses; one grandson, Ralph E. Moses, III; thirteen siblings, Raymond Polk, Jr., Walter Polk, Earl Polk, Ephriam Polk, Clifton Polk, Glenmore Cannon, Charles Polk, Irving Polk, Sr., Bessie Ballard, Beatrice Polk, Bernice Stevenson, Ida Polk and Rita Polk.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Princess Anne, Maryland where friends may call one hour prior.  Rev. Jamaal Bivens will be the Eulogist.  A viewing will also be held 2-6 PM Friday, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, Maryland.  Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
