Jefferson T. Rolley, Sr.known as “Jeff”, age 88, passed away peacefully at Coastal Hospice at The Lake in Salisbury, Maryland on Thursday, May 17, 2012, after a brief illness. He was born in Marumsco, Maryland on April 18, 1924 to the late James, Sr. and Tillie Rolley.
He was educated in the Somerset County Public Schools. He was a lifetime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Marumsco, Maryland in his early years he served as an usher and sang with the United Methodist Men. He retired from J. Miles Lankford in Pocomoke, City, Maryland and also worked at American Paving until at age 80. Jefferson loved farming.
Jeff enjoyed watching Westerns and spending time with his family. He spent many hours driving to Delaware to share Thanksgiving and family time. Those days will always be remembered and the wonderful family reunions held in Maryland will not be forgotten.
We cared for him as long as possible when he came home for two short weeks. God sent us Theresa and Terry Rolley, who cared and helped put him to bed every night and answered the help calls in the middle of the night.
He leaves to cherish fond memories with his wife of 59 years, Charlotte Reid Rolley; three sons, Thomas (Brenda) Rolley, Jr. of Bear, DE, Terry (Theresa) Rolley of Westover, MD and David (Rishirio) Rolley of Stone Mountain, GA; one daughter, Charlene (Wilbert) O’Bryant of Bear, DE; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Ernest (Dorothy) Rolley; two sisters, Alice (Oscar) Smith of Marion, MD and Frances Wise of Westover, MD; two brothers-in-law, Marion Milbourne of Marion, MD and Sydney Hayward of Princess Anne, MD; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Rolley, Jr. and John Rolley, Sr. and three sisters, Mary Hayward, Daisey Miles and Illene Milbourne.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21,2012 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Marion Station with a viewing 1 hour prior. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
