Barbara Ann Sterling, 69, was born August 15, 1943 on Freedomtown Road in Lawsonia, Maryland to the late Elisha Sterling, Sr. and Grace Sterling. She departed this life to her eternal reward on Wednesday June 26, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.
She received her education at Carter G. Woodson High School in Crisfield, Maryland. She was employed in the seafood industry and retired in 2002. She was also a caregiver to her mother until she passed in 1990. Barbara loved to work in the yard and to shop at second-hand stores.
Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish fond memories three daughters, Renea Coward of St. Louis, Missouri, Melissa Archie (Byron) of Upper Fairmount, Maryland, and Joanne Waters of Princess Anne, Maryland; two sisters, Vera Sutton of Crisfield and Lucille Maddox (Richard) of Marion, Maryland; two brothers, Carroll Sterling and Elisha Sterling, Jr., both of Crisfield; eight grandchildren, Angelo, Gary, Nate, Bryan, Jr., Brionna, Jeremiah, Zyon and Joziah; twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013 at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Marion Station, where friends may call one hour prior. Reverend Lucille Nichols will be the Eulogist. Friends may also call at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday July 5, 2013. Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Crisfield.
