James Garfield Woolridge, 57, of Laurens, South Carolina, formerly of Princess Anne, Maryland, was called home for a peaceful rest on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland. Born November 8, 1956 in Newark, New Jersey he was the son of the late James G. and Ruth Moore-Woolridge.
He was educated in the Public Schools of Newark, New Jersey. James “Jimmy” was employed by Somerset County Roads in Westover, Maryland for seven years and the Maryland State Highway for four in a half years. He was a truck driver for CR Englands for three years and Sealy Furniture Company in Salisbury, Maryland for five years. James and Donna relocated to South Carolina where he became employed at the South Carolina Department of Transportation for eight years. He was a member of Union #33 Masonic Lodge in Crisfield, Maryland.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, godfather, brother, uncle, mentor and a great friend to many. He always felt the need to lend words of wisdom, and encouragement to those who knew and loved him. Jimmy loved collecting antiques, upholstering furniture, literature, music and fishing. He especially loved going fishing and taking a fishing buddy especially with his late brother-in-law, Eric “Chuckie” Holbrook. They both spent many hours enjoying their shared past time.
He leaves to cherish his memory with his devoted wife of forty years, Donnalee Holbrook-Woolridge, who loved him unconditionally with devotion and honors; one son, Adrian White (Linda) of Baltimore, MD; three loving daughters, Tramika Barkley of Princess Anne, MD, Laleesha Woolridge of Pocomoke City, MD and Donna Pitts (Tony) of Clinton, SC; 11 grandchildren, Kadeem, Ryan, Mekhi, Isaiah, Dasia, Adrian, Dylan, Dylon, JaLynn, Mai and Ian; three sisters, Lauretta Bivins (John) of Florida, Janice Farmer (Joe) of Salisbury, MD and Bonnie Turner of South Carolina; his mother-in-law, Florence Lily Holbrook; one other son-in-law, Lindsey Murray; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Dismuke (Benny) of Salisbury, MD and Burdenia Maddox (Billy); one brother-in-law, Daniel “Mitchell” Holbrook (Gail) of Princess Anne, MD; a special aunt Margaret Gale and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1PM Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, Maryland with a viewing one hour prior. The host pastor is Rev. Ronald Bell and Rev. Brenda Peterson will be the Eulogist. Interment will be Private.
