Margaret Jones “Granny” or “Grandma” as she was affectionately called was born on May 1, 1943 to the late Mark Jones and Margaret Dennis. After a lengthy illness, Margaret departed this life on Saturday, August 22, 2015.
After 42 years of service, Granny retired from Perdue Inc., there she received numerous awards for perfect attendance and outstanding service.
Margaret received her education in the public schools of Somerset County. At an early age she became a member of Metropolitan United Methodist Church. She was very supportive of her church and loved to read her Daily Bread and The Upper Room. She got great comfort in listening to WESM “Stairway to Heaven” host Marian Birckhead on Sunday mornings.
For many years Granny was an active member of the Walter Polk Post #132 Ladies Auxiliary of Princess Anne. She will always be remembered for her down home cooking, pleasant smile, pleasant disposition and her willingness to always help someone in need. She loved to travel but after two or three days she would reply “I’m ready to go back home to Princess Anne”.
Granny was never married or had children of her own, but always took care of everyone’s child that she came in contact with and cherished them. She kept popsicles and snacks on hand for them. She loved watching western movies and the jeopardy game shows. She will surely be missed by her family and many friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory with: sister, Irma Deas of Baltimore, MD, brother, John Edward Dennis (Grace) of Princess Anne, sister, Dena Jones of Denton, MD, brother and sister Mark Jones and Cynthia Jones of New York City; a special nephew, Adrian White of Baltimore whom she helped her sister Betty to raise; one aunt, Betty Sterling (Thomas) of Philadelphia; two godchildren, Tiffany Maddox and her son, Michael of Princess Anne; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins and numerous friends.
