Franklin R. Braxton

Franklin Ruben Braxton departed this life on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Coastal Hospice by the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland.  He was born to the late James Ruben and Mary B. Braxton on November 17, 1948.

Frank received his education in the Somerset County Public School System.  He worked for Harold Bozman Seafood in Upper Hill and for L & E Farms in Westover for many years.  His last job was with the Somerset County Roads in Princess Anne, MD. He attended St. James U.M. Church, Westover, MD at an early age. He enjoyed attending special services and anniversaries at St. Andrews U.M. Church, Upper Hill, MD.

Frank was a fun loving and humble person.  He left an impact on everyone he came in contact with.  He was a man of few words but would have a conversation that would keep you laughing.  He enjoyed watching soap operas, playing the lottery and watching game shows. His favorite TV show was Empire.

Frank was married to the love of his life for 44 years, the late Vesta (Peaches) Braxton.  He had an undying love for his children and grandchildren.  He leaves to cherish his memories, four sons, Melvin Whitlor Sr. and Alvin White both of Princess Anne, Calvin White and Francis White of Salisbury, MD; two daughters, Victoria White-Davis (Robert Jr.), Salisbury, MD and Felicia Matthews (Elroy, Jr) of Delmar, MD; two brothers, Eugene Braxton (Michelle) of Baltimore, MD and John Braxton of Princess Anne, MD; four sisters, Margaret Jones,  Marlene Braxton and Beverly Fontaine, all of Princess Anne, MD and Joyce Savage (Gregory) of Baltimore, MD; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Whitlor (Linda), Youngstown, Ohio and Warren Ballard (Judy) of Princess Anne, MD; five grandsons, Melvin Jr., Earl, Jamar, Shayquan and AMontre’; four great granddaughters, Jzania, Samiyah, Aaliyah and Peyton and one great grandson, Marjzir; a special pet, (Gigi);  his best friend, Herbert Cottman and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Vesta (Peaches) Braxton; one brother, Clifton Collins; his parents, James and Mary Braxton and one brother-in-law, Isaac Jones.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in Upper Hill with a viewing one hour prior. A Viewing will also be held 6-8 PM Wednesday at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne.

Interment will be at the Waters Family Cemetery in Upper Hill.
