Maurice Franklin Barnes, 58, son of the late Donald and Anna P. Barnes was born on March 1, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Baltimore.
Maurice was raised in Marion, Maryland and received his education at Carter G. Woodson Elementary/High School and a graduate of Crisfield Academy High School. After graduation from High school Maurice enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps spending 6 years. He moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1986 and worked for the Casino Industries. Leaving Atlantic City, he returned to his home town to pursue his college education. He enrolled at The University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland and completed a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management. After graduation, Maurice went to work for several restaurants in the Baltimore area.
Maurice was a kindhearted person and would help anyone that needed help. He loved spending last Christmas with his daughter and grandchild. He truly enjoyed being around family and friends. He enjoyed talking to his best friend John Conway on the phone or Face Book at least once a week.
Maurice leaves to cherish memories, his daughter, Karri Ann Barnes; two grandchildren, Kennedy R. Page and Carter D. Page; a brother, David Barnes; a devoted friend, Shirleen A. Blue; a sister/friend, Violet Lee and a host of relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Barnes and maternal and paternal grandparents.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, Maryland.
