Emma Leona Collins, 80, of Princess Anne, Maryland transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland. She was born on April 22, 1940 in Princess Anne to the late Emma Cannon-Horsey and Leon Horsey.
Emma received her education in the Somerset County School system and graduated from Somerset High School. Upon graduation, she was very anxious to get started on her path to nursing school. However, cooking was her passion.
She worked as a dietician at Hartley Hall and had been a cook for 60 years before her health started to fail. Some of her favorite pastimes included, cooking, watching the soaps, reading and doing pages upon pages of crossword puzzles. After she retired, she spent her days enjoying her time with her family. Her daughter, Lynn, was the light of her life, along with her grandson, Aaron, and her granddaughter, Ashlyn. She enjoyed spending time, laughing and making memories with anyone she knew. Emma was well known for her kind and animated spirit. She loved to laugh and make people laugh with her. She used to say, “I love making people laugh because when they laugh, they’re not thinking about the pain they might be going through”.
Fond memories of Emma affectionately known as Emma Lee, are left to cherish by her daughter, Danita (Lynn) Sykes; two grandchildren, Aaron and Ashlyn; seven great grandchildren; A’yanna, Aniyah, Amari, Aaron Jr., Peyton and twins, Adrian and Julian; one sister, Edna Borden; one brother, Jesse (Cleo) Horsey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
