Sorry to hear of cousin Charles passing. Take care … “Joe”
Thanks for the post Anthony E. Ward Jr.( A.K.A Tony) I am Carlus Gerald, the oldest son of a great man Charles Burgess. Wish I could have spent many more times with my father, however he’s made his Ascension to be with our ancestors. Dad will never be forgotten. I will always be most thankful and honored to be his son.
Thank you very much for this Obituary Mr. Ward. I am Charles Burgess’s niece Sheila, the youngest daughter of his Brother Joseph Burgess. My uncle was a very smart man and he loved his family. I have always loved the intelligent conversations between him and his siblings. I am very sad that I will not be there to support my dad and other relatives over the next two days. I am a nurse in South Carolina and I couldn’t get anyone to cover my shifts. I’m praying for my family and I will never forget you uncle Charles😥

Charles worked with my team in Greensboro, NC for a little over a year. He was dedicated to completing his training, a large task especially in the world of 2020 and remote learning. I was fortunate to have completed an introductory/training trip with him in Lake City Florida with another team member for a week. A very short time to spend with someone however, we stayed in the same hotel and spent every evening getting to know each other on a personal level as well. We had a wonderful time talking about our families and things we did as young men, and listening to jazz among other forms of music! Please accept my condolences, I recently lost my mother too and I felt we comforted each other. He will be missed by my team and the rest of the folks here in Greensboro. I wish his family the best and you are in our prayers.
I worked with Charles at the Greensboro FSDO, Greensboro, NC. I am sorry to hear about his passing and praying for the family.
Employees at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) send its heartfelt thoughts and sympathy to Charles’ family, friends and loved ones. We pray the presence of God and the memories of Charles provide peace and comfort to his family and colleagues.
We remember Charles as a model of professionalism and a lifelong servant to learning and teaching in the aviation industry. He was that person you were blessed to have as a friend and wanted on your team because of his ability to contemplate, impart wisdom and insert proper perspective in a situation. Most memorable moments are getting a good number of laughs out of him when we can. 🙂
We are thankful for the opportunity to hear from his loved ones of his legacy and provided a platform to honor our dear colleague and friend Mr. Charles Burgess.
He will forever be missed and never forgotten!

Love always,
Cousin Laura and Andy Fulmore, and family.
Charles was a Godley man that loved his friends and family.
I enjoyed working with him in the Atlanta MIDO.
My Prayers are with his family.
Charles was my co-worker. My condolences to family & friends who are grieving his loss. Prayers for peace and comfort. He had been in our office in Greensboro less than a couple of years, and – for the most part – we’ve been teleworking from home for the last 10 months. So, I hadn’t gotten to know Charles real well. However, I can say that I knew Charles to be a humble man. Before the “stay at home” orders, when we were in the office, Charles and I had some pleasant personal interaction time. Because I was stationed in Charles’ home state of Maryland during my active-duty military enlistment, we had stories & memories in common. But, more importantly, we also shared a faith & hope in our Creator. When Charles’ Mom – Ms. Louise – went home to be with the Lord back in September, I reached out to Charles with my condolences. However, and more importantly, her passing into glory provided a segue into a discussion about God and everyone’s need of forgiveness in order to enter a right relationship with God through believing in and accepting His Son’s sacrifice on the cross. I am positive that Charles would want me to share this with those friends and relatives left behind by his passing. Today is the day of salvation.
