James F. Smith, III, 45, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Deer’s Head Coastal Hospice at the lake in Salisbury MD. He was surround by his loving family. James was born on September 22,1978 in Salisbury MD.
He was educated in Somerset County Public Schools.
He was better known as “Porge” to his family and friends. James loved to eat, his favorite foods were cheese and crackers, cheeseburger, and fries. He loved to watch game shows, westerns, and cartoons. His favorite color was red. He loved going to school and getting on that school bus. He loved to count and say his ABC’s, he also loved to watch Sesame Street.
James leaves to cherish his fond memories his sister, Mary Smith of Eden, MD; a nephew, Jayafus Kelly a niece, Jada Kelly, both of Eden, MD; three aunts, Arlene Cottman, Lillie Beckett, and Ola Milligan, all of Princess Anne, MD; two uncles, Emerson Cottman (Gloria) of Princess Anne, MD and Tony Smith (Ebony) of Salisbury, MD; cousins Dashanelle Cottman and Keyana Kellam.
James was preceded in death by his loving mother, Josephine Smith; grandparents, Mary Etta Cannon Hutt and Albert Cottman, Sr., James Smith, Sr., Lavon Smith; grand aunt, Naomi Morris (Robert); aunt, Michelle Hunter; two uncles, Albert Cottman and Oscar Cottman; cousins, Michael Dennis, and Thomas Beckett; a special friend of the family, William Purnell.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Antioch Church 11656 Somerset Avenue, Princess Anne with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be held 2:00 PM-4:00 PM Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne.

Porge and my daughter Shaina was school mates and very good friends ,back in the day. They attended Sarah Peyton school in Marion Maryland together. Now God has given his special angel a wonderful place in paradise ✨️. RIP Porge my friend until we meet again,Shaina 🙏 ❤️ ♥️ 💙!!
