Lamar Dontez Whittington,Sr.

Lamar Dontez Whittington, Sr., 40 of Crisfield, Maryland departed this life Friday, February 16, 2024 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Born September 1, 1983 he was the son of Ramona Whittington and George Bowyer (Alfreda).

Lamar received his education in the Public Schools in Somerset County and graduated from Crisfield High School.

Lamar loved music, it was his passion to become a great DJ.  His love and passion for this skill made him one of the most sought after DJ’s in the DMV area.

Lamar enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, “D J Marley Marr” as he was affectionately known is survived by his devoted companion,  Shannon Evans; five sons, Lamar Whittington, Jr., Takaden Whittington, Rakeem Terry, Camryn Smith and Ma’Kyree Whittington; one daughter, Carmen Whittington; four brothers, Carl Thomas, Jr., Antwine Whittington, Sr., Rontez Blue and Rodney Stevenson; three sisters, Georgina Bowyer-Ball (Eric), Dawn Ray and Joy Ligon; four Uncles, George Robert Ames, III (Rogette), Craig Ames (Kiashada), Samuel Bowyer (Penny) and William Bowyer, Sr. (Sophia); three aunts, Alice Haynes, Vivian Whittington and Starlene Ames; one great uncle, Leroy Whittington; one sister- in-law, Brenda Stevenson; two godbrothers,  Ty Lane and Dionte Collins; his godmother, Levitha ‘Lee Lee” Lawson (Pastor Donald); a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Beverly “Ann” Whittington-Ames; two brothers, Everett “Pluto” Williams, Sr. and James Stevenson; eight aunts, Bertha Harris, Mable Whittington, Gloria Whittington, Dorthell Whittington, Alverta Shaw, Betty Lou Wilson, Lillie Mae Hill and Mindel Young; two uncles, Joseph Bowyer and Mitchell Whittington; a special godmother, Shirleen “Shoog” Collins.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Highway Holiness Church, 27127 Old State Road, Crisfield, MD with a viewing one hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday, March 8, 2024 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Interment will follow at Mount Peer Cemetery in Marion, MD.

We didn’t see each other a lot or talk a lot but that doesn’t mean nothing I still love u and always will when I heard this news I cried a little but I got my cousin Carmen and my other cousins forever I might didn’t meet my other cousins but I forever got there back I know how they feel and I feel the same pain as them because I lost my dad to rest up in peace uncle love u
