David A. Wright

David Alton Wright, 63, of Baltimore, Maryland, formerly of Chance, Maryland, peacefully transitioned on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. Born on February 10, 1961, he was the beloved son of the late Elton Wright and Izetta J. Wright.
David received his formal education in the Somerset County Public School system. After high school, he began his career with English’s Catering before working at Delaware Elevator. Throughout his life, David took on various jobs, bringing his hardworking spirit and dedication to everything he did.
David was an Eagles fan and loved cheering on his favorite team during Sunday games, sharing his passion for football with family and friends.
David’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves to cherish his memory two loving daughters, Patricia Leatherbury-Pitts (Weldon) and Davette Wright, both of Princess Anne, Maryland. He was a devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren: Amiya White, Ja’Liyah Wright, Zavion Pitts, Ja’Myrah Wright, Jalil Johnson, Zakhai Pitts, and Zacari Pitts, and a proud great-grandfather to Milah Farah, all of Princess Anne, Maryland.
David is also survived by his cherished sister, Patricia Ann Wright, and nephew, James Wright, both of Salisbury, Maryland. He will be deeply missed by a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Elton Wright and Izetta J. Wright; his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Mahalia Jones; and his paternal grandparents, Edgar Wright, Tressie Wright Beckett, and step-grandfather, Brown Beckett.
David’s kindness, humor, and love for his family—and his Eagles—will be remembered by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched.

 A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 30522 Dr. William P. Hytche Blvd., Princess Anne, MD with a viewing one hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00PM-6:00PM Friday, January 3, 2025 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD.
