Theodore Bivens

Theodore Bivens was born February 11, 1940, to John and Ardella Bivens. He fell asleep in death Saturday July 19, 2025, at his residence in Crisfield, MD.
Theodore attended Marion Elementary School and Woodson High School in Crisfield, MD.
He was employed at Birdseye Frozen Foods in Pocomoke, MD until he was inducted into the US Army in February of 1962, where he served as a cook. After his honorable discharge in 1967, he worked as a machine operator and was employed by Exide Storage Battery, Blasé Manufacturing Co., and Handy’s Seafood in Crisfield, MD.
Theordore had a strong spiritual need and thirst for Bible truth. For many years he made a diligent search for the truth. And one day he met Donnie Matthews, one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She answered many of his questions from the Bible and arranged for Ted to have his own personal Bible study. In time, he learned, and accepted Bible truth, dedicated his life to Jehovah God, and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses November 23, 2014.
Soon after his baptism, he served as a pioneer, (devoting full time service) helping others learn Bible truths. He cherished this privilege until his health began to fail in 2024. In March of 2017 and until his death, he served as a Ministerial Servant assisting the body of elders to care for the congregation.
Although his health declined and he was no longer able to serve in full time service, Theodore’s love for Jehovah and his organization never declined. He did what he could. One of his favorite songs was With Eyes of Faith.
Theodore leaves to mourn, three daughters, Rita Lanham (Roosevelt) of New Port News, VA, Angela Bivens of Princess Anne, MD, and Trina Bivens of Bridgeport, CT; three sisters, Molly Harris of Georgia, Della Bivens of Gaithersburg, MD, and Louise Ward of Crisfield, MD; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of friends.
The Family would like to thank all who have supported them in various ways during this loss.
Respectfully submitted,
The Theordore Bivens Family

  2. Another tall timber from the Whittington/Handy bloodlines have fallen. Cousin Theodore. Branches crack and leaves swirl in the dust, as if to cry aloud, “oh Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.” We are left poorer indeed without your sheltering arms, your radiant smile and the kindness of your presence. Yet we rejoice, knowing you will yet stand again, by the love of God in a new earth and a new heaven.
