Robert Wilmo Bailey, Sr., 72, of Princess Anne, Maryland departed this earthly life at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on June 11, 2011 after a long illness. Born January 20, 1939, he was the son of the late John Briscoe Bailey, Sr. and Dorothy Ann Bailey of Venton, Maryland.
“Bobby”, as he was known to his family and friends, was educated in the Somerset County Public Schools. Throughout his employment he held several positions. He worked on Dean Bozman’s farm for many years in his younger days. He was also employed at Super Giant for 10 years and he later retired from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore as a Groundsman Supervisor after 17 years of service prior to his sickness.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Dorothy Bailey of Venton, Maryland; four daughters, Carolyn (Terry) Marshall of Princess Anne, Laverne Bailey of Eden, Maryland, Adrena (Tina) Bailey of Ocean City, Maryland and Amy Bailey of Princess Anne, Maryland; two sisters, Diane Tilghman of Princess Anne, Maryland and Joyce (William) Hopkins of Millsboro, Delaware; one brother, Matthew (Charlotte) Bailey of Hebron, Maryland; two sisters-in -law: Mildred Thomas and Yvonne Elmore; two brothers-in -law, Marvin Elmore and Stephen Elmore of Princess Anne, Maryland; eight grandchildren, LaTasha (Daniel) Hall of Waldorf, Maryland, Phillip Bailey of Salisbury, Maryland, Vicky White of Waldorf, Maryland; SGT First Class Ronney (Ketsida) Copes of Savannah, Georgia, Christine Bailey of Salisbury, Maryland, Quinton Bailey of Princess Anne, Maryland, Antonio and Quincey Maness of Princess Anne, Maryland; and twenty great-grandchildren. A devoted friend, Corrine Dennis and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl V. Bailey; two sons Robert Bailey, Jr. and Clifton Bailey; two sisters Shirley Bailey and Phyllis Bailey; three brothers John Bailey, Jr., Thomas Bailey and Rodney Bailey.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011at 12 p.m. at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Student Services Center, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment services will be held at Grace U.M.C. Cemetery in Venton, Maryland.
