Amy was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church. She served as an Usher, Communion Steward, a member of the Senior Choir and Treasurer of the United Methodist Women. Amy was a founding member of the Sturgis One Room School Museum and attended as long as she could. She also sang with the Community Mission Singing Group, this group visited the nursing homes in Berlin, Snow Hill, Manokin Manor and Hartley Hall.
We will never forget her beautiful smile.
She leaves to cherish fond memories with her devoted nieces, Miriam Golden (Edison) of Pocomoke City and Alice Wilson (Ernest) of Coplay, Pennsylvania and Shirley Cunningham; one nephew, Allen Blount, Jr.; one granddaughter, Aretha Parker of Richmond, Virginia; five great grandchildren, Tynisha Ward, Yvette Ward, Marco Ward, Margo Ward and Mornita Parker; several great great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Mary Gladys Downing of Withams, Virginia and Mary Louise Downing of Baltimore, Maryland; nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Ward and several other siblings.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. James United Methodist Church, 1513 Colona Road, Pocomoke City with a viewing two hours prior. Reverend Anna Foster will be the Eulogist. A viewing will also be held 6 to 8 pm Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Church. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
