Salvador G. Rodriguez was born on September 24, 1925 in Guayanilla Puerto Rico to the late Isidro Rodriguez and Juana Gonzalez. He departed this life on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland after a brief illness.
Bishop Rodriguez relocated to New York City in his early years and eventually moved to the Eastern Shore.
He was employed by Mrs. Paul’s Kitchen in Crisfield and later became employed at Sherwin Williams and retired after twenty years of service.
He was ordained Elder at Highway Holiness Church in Crisfield. He attended the International Seminary and received a Diploma of Practical Theology in December of 1988 and in 1990 he received his Graduate of Theology. As an Elder in July 1987 he established Brotherly Love House of Prayer in Manokin, Maryland where he served as Pastor and later ordained as Bishop on June 23, 2001. While Pastoring he became Overseer of Christian Church of the Refuge in Salisbury, where the Pastor was Jorge DeJesus. He returned to Highway Holiness Church in 2006 where he remained a member and Bishop until his death.
He married his “Queen”, Theola Horsey December 24, 2006. He loved not only her but her huge family and his cat Leon.
He leaves to cherish fond memories of his devoted wife: Theola Rodriguez, three daughters, Pastor Faye Corbin (Johnny), Vonceal Urquheart and Perri Horsey; grandchildren, Winfield, Sharonne, Donita, Yvonne, Yolanda, Antonio, Aayana, Javon, Aayanta and Shekinah; twelve great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, Charmaine, Marida, Barbara, Lena, Sarah and Guillermina; three brothers-in-law, James, Ronald and Donald; two uncles-in-law; four aunts-in-law; a host of nephews and nieces from Puerto Rico and the United States; a host of godchildren and those he called “his boys.” He was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters, and his first wife, Ella L. Rodriguez.
A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Highway Holiness Church in Crisfield with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be held 6-8 PM Friday at the Church. Interment will be in John Wesley U.M.C. Church Cemetery in Marion Station.
