James “Jay” Patrick Williams, 50, departed this life on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Coastal Hospice At The Lake in Salisbury, Maryland. Jay was born May 28, 1968 in Salisbury to the late James Lee Williams and Marian “Jeanette” Williams.
Jay graduated from Washington High School in May 1986. He loved learning and went on to Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1990.
Jay worked a host of various jobs in which he served as an Account manager at Affiliated Power Purchases Intentional and as an Accounts Clerk at Credit Plus. He began another career working for the State of Maryland in 2010, as a Correctional Officer, then became a Sergeant and finally he transitioned to the position of a Case Manager. In February 2018 he retired from Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover, Maryland.
Jay was a member of United Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jay was wedded in holy matrimony to Orlena Byrd-Williams on May 7, 2005. Jay was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, co-worker and friend.
Jay was a true friend, a listening ear and a loving person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His passions were: eating out, baking and watching his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys.
A loving family member, other than God there was nothing that Jay loved more than being with his loved ones. Jay’s family was his greatest concern. He always wanted the family to be on the same page with each other. He was the peace maker.
He leaves to cherish fond precious memories with: his loving, dedicated and devoted wife, Orlena Byrd-Williams; his mother, Marian Williams; three brothers, Richard Blue of Crisfield, MD, Tyrone Blue of Princess Anne, MD and Bryant Morris of Salisbury; a special sister, Robin Harmon (Eric) of Salisbury; four other sisters, Jamie Costen (Ernest) of Princess Anne, Faye Waters of North Carolina, Elois Whittington of Baltimore, MD and Dawn Trader (Vaughn) of Lansdale, PA; two aunts, Lena Tilghman and Martha Jones (Marion); one uncle, Pastor Dr. Lowell Collins; a special nephew Elijah Harmon and a special niece, Erica Harmon; a host of other nephews, nieces; five godchildren; cousins, co-workers, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 9, 2018 at New Dimensions Ministries, 1905 Jersey Road, Salisbury, Maryland with a viewing one hour prior. A Viewing will also be held 6-8 PM Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Church. Interment will be at Spring Hill Memory Gardens, 27260 Ocean Gateway, Hebron, Maryland.
