Jon Ricardo Vass, Sr. (known as Ricky), the son of the late Anthony and Ada Vass, Jr. was born June 4, 1951 in Crisfield, by a midwife. Ricky was called home to eternal rest on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at his home.
Ricky received his education in the Somerset County School System. Ricky Worked a variety of jobs. For many years he worked as a master carpenter, a skill he learned from his dad. Ricky was a jack of all trades.
Ricky had a love for fishing, playing cards, swimming, and singing. Ricky loved his family, especially his children. He had a very sweet personality, very soft-spoken and laid-back. He never complained about anything.
He leaves to cherish his memory with; three sisters, Cheryl Collins (Linwood), Brenda Vass and Anita Williams; three brothers, David (Bonnie) Vass, Don (Francine) Vass and Victor Vass; eight children, Jeremiah Handy, Cheryl Collins (Antonio), Carmel Williams (Tommy), Melricka Smith, Jon Vass, Jr., Devon Anderson, Sean Vass and D’Aire Woods. A host of nephiews, nieces, cousins and friends; one very special lady, Phyllis Wise and Daniel Collins, Jr., a son, he raised like his own.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Vass, III, and other family members, Francis Horsey, and Vera Hall Wallace.
