Norma Mae Sterling, 79, the daughter of the late John “Wes” Hall and Jessie Mae Hall, was born on January 14, 1933 in Crisfield, Maryland. She was called home to eternal rest on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at her residence in Crisfield after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Norma was educated in the Somerset County Public School System. She was employed in the seafood industry until she retired. Her Christian journey began at Union Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield, Maryland where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Norma officially became a member in 1996. She was very passionate about the church choir and served as a choir mentor until her health failed. She was a true sister in Christ to all who knew her! Norma was an extremely devoted wife and mother. She found great joy in her family and loved taking care of her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Gran” by all of her grandkids. Norma was a loyal and loving friend to many and often thought of as a second Mom.
Those of us left to cherish the many memories are her husband of 57 years, Carroll R. Sterling; five children, Angie Sterling, Maynard Sterling, Sr., Myra Sterling all of Salisbury, Maryland; Carol Sterling of Baltimore, Maryland and Yvette (Michael) Cross of Crisfield, Maryland; one sister, Rosalie Hudson of Durham, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Julian (Jerisha) Sterling of Fort Polk, Louisiana, Jessica Cropper, Maynard Sterling, Jr., and Jeremi Sterling all of Salisbury, Maryland, Michelle Sterling of Bowie, Maryland, Cedric Ward and Austin Ward of Baltimore, Maryland, Keenen Sterling of Sacramento, California, and Dionna Sterling (also her special caregiver) of Crisfield, Maryland; and a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Elizabeth Hall.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Union Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield, Maryland where friends may call one hour prior. Friends may also call Friday, June 1, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held at Mt. Peer U.M.C. in Marion Station, Maryland.

I feel very bad for your loss, as a friend of the family. I can not say anything that will make your hearts hurt any less, offer anything that has not been offered by many. But wait, I can offer the comfort of a true friend. Never foresake , never forget, never change and never abandon. These things in life as well as death should and will never change.
Angie, Mr. Carroll and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Her laughter, voice and beautiful memories will remain in your hearts forever.
