De’Shay D. Cephas, Sr.

De’Shay Donique Cephas Sr, affectionately known as “Shay”, was born on July 29, 1994 to the late Patricia White and George Cephas. He departed this life to take eternal rest on Sunday May 19, 2024.

De’Shay received his education in the Somerset County Public School system and later went on to obtain his GED. He was formerly employed with Chesapeake Waste Industries and also worked previously as a flagger. In 2020, he received his certification as a dog trainer. To know him, was to love him! He was a go-getter, a provider and always the life of the party. He had a strong personality much like his mom and didn’t like to hear the word “no”, a trait all of his children have picked up. He was always the one to make a way out of no way.

De’Shay started making changes in his life to become a better man by facing responsibilities head on and taking accountability. Sadly, we were unable to see the finished product as he was taken from us too soon.

De’Shay is preceded in death by his mother Patricia White, grandmother Delores Stevenson, his grandfather Orley Stevenson, Sr. and twin daughters La’Shay and Shay’Lyn Cephas. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his father George Cephas, one sister: Sierra (Veda) White of Florida; five children: De’Shay Cephas Jr, Maysen Turner, De’Ziyah Cephas, De’On Cephas and De’Onna Cephas, along with 2 bonus daughters Samiyah Marshall and Jazmyn Taylor. De’Shay also leaves behind a host of family and friends including long-time girlfriend Tiffanie Johnson and a special cousin De Roberts.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, 30665 Student Service Center, Princess Anne, Maryland with a viewing one-hour prior.  a public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday, June 7, 2024, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne.
