Rowena Sterling-Bracetty, 83, departed this life Tuesday, July 24, at her residence. Born, May 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Sterling, Sr. and Grace Sterling.
Rowena was educated in the Somerset County Public Schools and after completing high school, she worked in various local industries. She later moved to Baltimore, Maryland and became employed by the Social Security Administration where she worked until retirement.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Joanne Sterling of Crisfield, Maryland; three sisters, Vera Sutton and Barbara Sterling, both of Crisfield and Lucille (Richard) Maddox of Marion Station, Maryland; two brothers, Carroll Sterling and Elisha Sterling, Jr., also of Crisfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Sterling-Bascomb.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Union Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Friends may also call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, Maryland.
