Mary Ardella Fields

Mary Ardella Fields, 69, was called home on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Alice Byrd Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Crisfield, Maryland. Born April 14, 1950 in Tallahassee, Florida. Mary was the daughter of the late Robert Fields, Sr. and the late Bernice Bivens Henderson and James Henderson, Sr.

Mary’s devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her illness and ultimately gave her peace.

Mary affectionately known as Moochie was educated in Somerset County, MD.

She was a seafood worker for years, before that she was a Food Service worker at McCready Memorial Hospital, where she later retired.

Moochie had a passionate love of family. After the passing of her mother she became the glue that kept everyone together. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader making sure we all knew that she was proud of our accomplishments. Mary would also let you know when you were out of order by saying “just stop it”, that meant you better make it right.

When Mary was able, she loved gardening, cooking, going to bingo, playing cards with her friends, and going to yard sales with special Aunt Louise.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age. Her favorite hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “Rough Side of the Mountain”.

Mary leaves to cherish her fond memories with, her children, Leroy Fields of Princess Anne, MD, Crystal Fields(Gary) of Crisfield, MD and Quinita White (Lawrence) of  Princess Anne; seven grandchildren, Donald Waters III, Kevin Bishop, Juanita Waters, Jamar Tenner , Prentiss Ward, Tyriek Tenner and Amber Coleman; thirteen great grandchildren; three brothers, James Henderson, Jr., Charles Henderson (Romaine) and Clifton Marshall (Lisa); four sisters, Consola Johnson, Sarah Henderson, Vanessa Henderson and Hope Fontaine (Corey); her extended family, The Whittington’s and special friends, Audrey Banks and Lamar Whittington.  She also leaves to cherish her precious memories of her companion of 52 years, Donald Fletcher of Crisfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers,  Robert,  Jr., Larry and Carey Fields; one sister, Lisa Henderson;  a niece, Shalonda Fields and two great nephews, Leroy Johnson and Prentiss Henderson;  six uncles, two aunts and her best friends, Mable and Gloria.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Crisfield with a viewing one hour prior.  A viewing will also be held tonight  from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM April 2, 2020 at the Funeral Home, another viewing will be held from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday, April 3, 2020 at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Marion Station, Maryland.
