Maggie A. “Hannah” Ballard

  1. Maggie A. “Hannah” Ballard of Princess Anne, MD departed this life Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury, MD. Born June 28, 1956 to the late Earl Ballard, Sr. and Bessie Polk Ballard of Princess Anne, MD. 

Maggie, who was affectionately known as “Hannah” was loved by many.  

She was educated in the Public Schools of Somerset County.  She later attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where she earned her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  She was employed by Somerset County Public School System for over 20 years prior to her illness.  While being employed she severed in many capacities including: Paraprofessional, Liberian, Home and Hospital Liaison, after school tutor, basketball coach and summer school. In addition to being employed by Somerset County Public School System she also worked as a Camp Counselor for The National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

“Hannah” was a faithful member of Tabernacle of Prayer Church in Salisbury, MD, until her health began to fail.  At the church she served as the President of the Usher Board.    

She leaves to cherish fond memories with the love of her life, her nephew, Dedrick Ballard of Princess Anne; one brother, Michael Ballard (Brenda) of Charlotte, NC; one goddaughter, Chatriece Dennis (Jamaal) of Salisbury; four nieces, Ebony and Amanda Ballard both of Salisbury, LaTasha Arthur of Fayetteville, NC and Mi’Cayla Ballard of Charlotte; two nephews, Terrance Gerald and Zechariah Wood both of Charlotte; two aunts, Lucille Jones and Jennie Chase (Percy) both of Princess Anne; one uncle, David Polk (Joyce) of Princess Anne and a host of cousins other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Earl “Bunny” Ballard, Jr. and her maternal and paternal grandparents. 

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday,  December 18, 2020 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, MD with a viewing one hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Church. Interment will be at John Wesley (Bowland Hill) Cemetery in Princess Anne.

  1. Maggie, this is a hard one. I will hold on to all the memories we shared from working together and eating out at our favorite Chinese Buffet or bringing the food back to my place. My confidant, my sister, my friend. I love you! ❤️

    My thoughts and prayers are extended to you and your family. To lose a loved one is painful, but God will see you through this difficult time of mourning. By your work in the church, we know how much you serve a living God, know that his help and encouragement is only a prayer away. Much love as I think about you.
