Dorothy Virginia Wilson

Her Story

Dorothy Virginia Wilson departed her earthy home on April 5, 2022 at University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, with her family by her side. She was 85 years old. She was born April 2, 1937.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Aldotha and Hilda Wilson; grandparents; brothers, Wilbert, Allen, Paul and Larry Wilson; one sister, Sydney Caulk; one son, Bryant Wilson; one nephew A.J.; and her favorite aunt, Frances Gilbert.

She was a graduate of Henry Highland Garrett High School.  She was employed at Vita Foods in Chestertown, MD, RMR in Elkton, MD, and retired from the job she loved the most at Washington College in Chestertown.

“Dot” as she was lovely called by her family and friends, gave her life to Christ at an early age, and has been a lifetime  member of Union United Methodist, now Union at Coleman, there she was a member of  the United Methodist Women, the Nominating Committee and her favorite the StillPond Coleman Mass Choir. She loved praising God. She found pleasure in going to Bible study with Rev. Thomas and them being on the  weekly Prayer line.

 “Dot” enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, doing word search puzzles, being on the phone getting all the news, chewing Freedent Spearmint Gum, and she truly loved her family and found pleasure in family gatherings.

“Dot” was known for baking her White Potato Pies, three layered Chocolate Cake and Griddle Bread which she would only make for her Son.

“Dot” leaves to cherish her lasting and loving memory with:  her daughter, Donna Wilson; one son, Dwight Clayton (Joan); adopted son, Michael Gilbert (Tessa); one godson, Donald Jones; her siblings, Garry Wilson (Victoria) and Lita Green (Arthur); three grandchildren, DePaul, Deona and Ryann; one adopted granddaughter, Summer Gore; four great grandchildren, Jordan, DeShawn, A’Drianna and Savannah; four nephews, Maynard and Gary Caulk, Wilbert(Doretha) and Eric Wilson; one niece, ArLita Barbour (Teakira), one adopted niece, LaShay Kennard; 10 great nephews, five great nieces; one Uncle, Claude Gilbert (Marjorie); two sisters- in-law, Dorothy B. Wilson and Ellen Wilson; her special cousins, William Jones, Walter Gilbert and Mary Fisher; her sister girl, Faye Little; her BFF, Diane Anderson; close friends, Shirley Jones and Mary Hynson; one life time friend, Godfrey Clayton and a host of cousins, family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held Noon Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Union at Coleman United Methodist Church, 13223 Wyble Road, Worton MD with a viewing and visitation one hour prior.
