Vera Janet Sutton

Vera Janet Sutton, 94, of Crisfield Maryland gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at her residence. Born April 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Sterling, Sr. and Grace Sterling.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Sutton, Filbert Ward (Jeanne) and Cindy Sutton; six grandchildren, Rhonda Sutton, Antwine Teagle (Janelle), David Ward, Jennifer Rodgers, Dawn Ward and Danielle Ward; 14 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two brothers, Carroll Sterling and Elisha Sterling; one sister, Lucille Maddox; a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver “Curly” Sutton; two granddaughters, Deona Sutton and Jessica Ward; three sisters, Rowena Bracetti, Peggy Bascomb and Barbara Sterling.

A Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Marion Station, MD with a viewing one hour prior.  A viewing will also be held 6:00 PM -8:00 PM Friday, July 29, 2022 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Crisfield, MD.  Interment will be Hopewell Cemetery in Crisfield.

  5. Sending prayers and words of encouragement to the Sutton family. Mom Vera was just that to all she met. The Corbin family spent many good times in her front room enjoying whatever she offered that she had cooked over laughs and conversation. Love you all ❤️ be kind to yourselves and cherish the memories.

  8. This really saddens my heart! My condolences to the family! When I met her she definitely became the joy of my work day. Mrs. Sutton as I called her was always a joy to be around and she was such an inspiration to me . She definitely loved her family with all her heart. She will be missed and I will always have love in my heart for Mrs. Sutton.
