Thomas Wesley Hitch

Thomas Wesley Hitch, 74  of District Heights, MD formerly of Mt. Vernon (Polks Road), MD departed this life Thursday,  February 16, 2023.  Born August 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Lawrence Grafton, Hitch, Sr. and Frances Banks-Hitch.

“Tommy” as he was affectionately known was educated in the Somerset County Public Schools.  He was employed for many years at Delaware Tire in Salisbury, MD and Nock’s Tire in Pocomoke City, MD.

He is survived by: his stepson, Reginald E. Guy; grandchildren, Sherelle Selby, LaKeshia Selby, Chantell wright (Sheldon), Jennifer Thomas (Jonathan), Alexus Guy, Reginald Guy, Tatyana, Rahman Guy, Londell Conway and Angie Conway; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Jones (Jornal) and Thelma Long (Willis); special friends, Karen and Nathaniel Speaks; a special nephew, Wendell Corbin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary Hitch; his daughter, Vanessa Hitch; three brothers, Randolph D. hitch, Lawrence M. Hitch, Jr. and Edward M. Hitch and one sister, Betty Jane Collick.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne,  MD with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be held 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2023 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD where Ceremonial rites will  be performed by the Crisfield Pride Elks Lodge #194 at 7:00 PM.

Interment will be at Mount Zion (Polk’s Road) Cemetery in Princess Anne.
