Clementine E. Evans-Spence

Clementine Eugenia Evans-Spence, 91, of Marion Station, MD was born to the late William and Octavia Evans on May 20, 1931, in Crisfield, Maryland.  The Lord lent the world His angel long enough to complete her assignments, then He called her home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Clementine was educated in the Public Schools of Somerset County.  Clementine enjoyed sports and was an avid bowler until her health failed.  She was a mother and friend not to her own children but also many kids in the neighborhood.  She worked various jobs in Boston, Massachusetts, returned home in March 1966 to work at Rubberset Co. for 31 years and the seafood Industry.

Clementine accepted Christ as her personal Savior in May 1986.  She was a communion steward and a member of the United Methodist Women.  She was united in holy matrimony to Irvin Spence November 30, 1996, who preceded her in death in May 2011.

Clem loved her family and always had a smile and a word of advice if you chose to listen.  She loved us all and taught us to put God first, support, encourage and stand by each other.

She leaves to mourn her passing: five children, Lynette Thomas of Princess Anne, MD, Nelson Evans, Lavern Baker and Linda Evans, all of Marion, MD Laurie Evans of Hopewell, MD; a special friend like a son, Garnet Coulbourne (Kaveen) of Mardela Springs, MD; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; one son-in-law, Eugene Borden; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Evans and Judy Evans, both of Marion; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family; her best friends, Patricia Lankford Douglas, Marguerite Young and Evola Maddox, all of Crisfield.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Borden; a grandson, Eugene Borden and her nine siblings, Henry Kenney, Sr., William III, Emma, George, Agatha, Samuel, Anthony, Poochie (Herdius) and Susie Evans.
