Gladys Hall

Gladys Elizabeth Hall, 84, of Princess Anne, MD departed this life on Monday, May 22, 2023, after a long illness at Manokin Nursing and Rehab in Princess Anne, MD.  She was born on November 1, 1938 to the late Evelyn Mills Wells and Earl Horsey, Sr.  She was educated in the Public School System of Somerset County located in Princess Anne, MD.

Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many who knew her.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and other family members. She was also a member of the Walter Polk Post #132 Ladies Axillary of Princess Anne, MD and the Cooties of the Pocomoke City VFW.

Gladys started her career in nursing at Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury, MD in the early 60’s.  Gladys continued her career at the Holly Center where she retired at 30+ years of service.

Gladys will be lovingly missed by her two sons, Gregory Hall of Salisbury, MD and Gerry Hall (Andrea) of Upper Marlboro, MD; one daughter, Connie Hall of Princess Anne, MD; one bonus daughter, Alverta Polk of Princess Anne, MD; six grandchildren, Garrett Hall (Vicky) of Waldorf, MD, a special granddaughter, Brandi Hall of Princess Anne, MD, Keith Hall of Marion, MD,  Kevin Hall (Myesha) of Princess, Anne, MD, Dorian and Lauren Hall of Waldorf, MD; two bonus grandsons, Donte’ Bivens of Camp Springs, MD and Anthony Atkins, Jr. of Brooklyn, MD and several great grand-children.

Gladys is also survived by her sisters; Audrey Brooks, (Wendell) of Princess Anne, MD, Mattie Wells of Salisbury, MD, Veronica Burrell of Princess Anne, MD, Clementine Wells Allen (Jeffery), of Orlando, Florida, Terrina Leach of Newport, NY, Joeyln Collins of Laurel, MD, Lyle Obie of South Carolina, Vana Toval (Michael) of Georgia, Jaylin Nelson (Nate) of Freeport, NY; one brother, Earl Horsey, Jr. of Freeport, NY; one brother-in-law, Eldon Hall (Dierdra) of Upper Marlboro, MD; three sisters-in-law, Viola Mason of Upper Marlboro, MD, Janice Hall of Snow Hill, MD and Leona Hall of Salisbury, MD; one god-daughter, Lenora Johnson of Dumfries, VA.  She is also survived by her maternal aunt, Bernice Brady, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton C. Hall, Sr.; one daughter, Bonnie Y. Hall; one son, Clifton C. Hall, Jr.; one grandson, Darren Hall; one great granddaughter, Sha’Kera Hall; two sisters, Flossie Freeman and Lillian Wells; three brothers, Robin Horsey, Noel Horsey and Loren Horsey.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church,32256 Perryhawkin Road, Princess Anne, MD (Oaksville) with a viewing one hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00-6:00 PM Friday,  June 9, 2023 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, Maryland. Interment will be at Christ M.E. Cemetery in Pocomoke, Maryland.
