Evelyn Johnson

Evelyn Johnson, 74, of Marion Station MD transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Tidal Health McCready in Crisfield, MD.  “Wommie” as she was affectionately called was the daughter of the late Charles Miles and the late Iris Miles, was born on September 6, 1949.

Evelyn was an avid sports fan, and the Dallas Cowboys was her favorite team. In her earlier years, she loved playing softball and was tops at 3rd base.  Wommie loved cooking, entertaining and feeding family and friends. Through the years her home became the gathering place for dinners and barbeques. She was known in the family for speaking her mind, her quick wit, smile and laughter; often enjoying  friendly games of pinochle, spades, and bid whist; she could play with the best of them.

I was down to Marion Station for a funeral on August 5th 2023 n I came a little early so I so I could visit the center before a friend’s funeral. I did not know Evelyn was there but as I was walking through the lobby i heard somone say something and as I turned there she was Wommie as I called her and most people did. I turned and walked over to her and she was all smiles and we were glad to see each other she looked wonderful and nothing seemed to be troubling her. 7. I have always had a special place in my heart and memory. I told my sons how she tried to help me with basketball to no avail. We mostly laughed. I have seen her over the years and it was really good since I lived so far away. To the family, My wishes and prayers for your comfort in your days of grief. May God pour his comfort on you all.

  9. To Theresa (Tiny), Freddie, siblings and grandchildren,

I am unable to be with you for services but want you to know that my heart hurts because my friend has left us too soon. She has left me with rich memories of her smiling face, kindness, wisdom, boundless energy, and years of a special friendship. For the moment I am sadden. As I reflect on these memories, I feel at ease and know they are healing my heart. Some of those memories have brought on a smile and outright laughter! The same will happen for you. Evelyn loved you all so much and would never want to hurt you. God summoned her and she had to leave. She would not want her departure to sadden you. I pray that your memories of her eases the heartache you feel. Our God will comfort you and bring you peace. She will always be with you, in your heart.
    With love, Cathie Barnes
