Michele Robbins

Michele Dorien Robbins, affectionately known as Petunia, daughter of Joan Robbins and the late Raymond DeShields was born in Salisbury, Maryland on May 1, 1965. She departed this life on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Anchorage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury Maryland.

She completed her formal education in the Worcester County public schools, graduating from Snow Hill High School in 1983.  While in High school, she was a member of the marching band, and she also had a passion for playing the piano and other musical instruments.  She also served as the girls’ basketball manager during her high school years.  Michele also had a love for dancing and all types of music. She once told a story of how  she danced so hard, that she danced right out of her shoes.

Upon graduating, Michele furthered her education at the Boyd Traveling School in Pittsburg Pa.   Michele had a very infectious smile and was employed at Wendy’s and McDonald’s until her health deteriorated. Due to her health, she became involved with Go Getters and resided in several group homes in the Salisbury area. When her health would allow, you would see her at Walmart and other local stores shopping. You may have also seen her smiling face a time or two as she volunteered at Tidal health.  When she was out shopping or attending an event, she was always looking her best with her hair and nails done.  She was also a cancer survivor, and you see her participating in Relay For Life. In the last few months of her life, she became a resident at the Anchorage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

During her youth, she was a member of Ebenezer UMC in Snow Hill, Maryland and served as a member of the Children’s Choir. While living in the Salisbury area, she loved visiting different churches. Her close friend Dolly Swann would visit her and accompany her regularly to church.   She would also pick her up and take her to different activities in the area.  Michele really loved those special outings because she loved to travel and shop.  With that same affection, she loved her family and friends, and had a special sisterhood with her cousin Tracy Robins Matthews.  During their youth, Michele and Tracy would spend their summers between Washington DC and Snow Hill.

Precious and loving memories will be cherished by her one and only son Terry “Tudor” Robbins, Mother Joan Robbins of Snow Hill, MD, brothers Michael (Tonya) Robbins, Denton Md; Mitchell (Meshell) Robbins, Salisbury Md, and Marvin (Vann) Robbins Fayetteville NC. Three Uncles, Gerald Robins, Baltimore, MD; Richard Sr. (Lula) Robins, Stockton Md, and David (Jean) Robins, Dagsboro De. A very special great-niece Lavender Pinkins of Memphis TN. Two aunts, Julia Paul and Eleanor DeShields, Snow Hill, Md; several nieces, nephews and host of cousins and friends.

She was also preceded in death by grandparents Willilam and Margaret Robins, Uncle Randolph (Barbara) Robins, Shelton Deshields Sr. Aunts, Margret Jean (Clinton) Tindley, Ardella Fletcher, Engle Robins, Jean Robins and a few close cousins Wendell (Kathy) Robins, Joan Evans, Larry Robins, Lynette Tindley, and Clark Tindley.

A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 107 S. Collins St., Snow Hill, MD with a viewing one hour prior.

Interment will be at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Snow Hill, MD.

  7. I am very saddened by the news of Michele’s passing. She and I have shared lots of time together. So many wonderful memories that I will have of our days spent laughing and singing. She always loved participating in events. I called her Miss Social butterfly. Before we would part ways she would always say “ Thsnk you for all that you do for me”. She was very proud of all of her hours of volunteering at Tidal Health, she loved her family and friends, and loved attending church. I am so glad that I was able to see her in Aug. on my visit to MD. My prayers go out to all that had a connection to Michele as she has left such great memories with us all.

  11. Though I never met Michele, her eyes and smile generate an interior beauty in addition to her external beauty. Genuine and wonderful, she no longer suffers but has joined loved ones who preceded her, and now in the loving embrace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

  13. I shared a group home at go getters with Michelle, and we share a lot of moments together, because we both shared the same first name, we became known as the m&M’s when we were together at go-getters. She had a special spirit about her, that made everyone feel good. She will be missed. Hi

  15. To the Family, such a bright light has been dimmed at Michele’s passing… never a time without a smile, a song in her heart and a kind word, she will truly be missed. Please be encouraged in knowing “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.” Seek Gods wisdom as only He gives “…beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for anointing and a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness” you’re experiencing. Trust Him right where you are, He never fails. Praying your strength and peace neighbors and friends🙏✝️♥️Love Anthony & Rosalind

  16. Wow Michelle!!! It’s been almost 40 years since we met before heading to The Boyd School in Pittsburgh , PA. Through our friendship, our families became really close. It is true, your smile could light up a room. Every time that I would see you out and about you would always have that smile and I would gave you a big smile right back. Michelle, I’ll always remember you. My sister, take your rest. No more pain or suffering!!!

Robbins Family, May God continue to bless you and keep you during this difficult time.

  17. I just learned today that my buddy Michelle has passed away. My heart is very sad. I managed the PLUS Volunteer program at Tidal Health (PRMC) many years while Michelle was there and could count on her to do anything she was asked to do, and do it well. I would often give her rides home and we went to Relay for Life several years together. I can see from all the comments that she was certainly loved by many. She was always ‘stylin’ and would come to special events looking like a million bucks. She was such a sweet person, and now a sweet Angel. I’m so sorry you’re gone.
