Darlene Annette Ward

Darlene Annette Ward,63, of Crisfield, MD made her heavenly transition on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at her residence. Born June 4, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Lincoln Douglas and Alma Miles-Ward and Rev. Walter B. Ward, Sr.

She is survived by her companion; Phillip Ballard; five brothers, Brewster Ward, Sr., Bernard Ward, Sr. (Valerie), Austin “Rick” Ward (Angel), Delontae Ward (Deborah) and Michael Ward (Monica); her best friends, Samuel Ward and Vonzella Byrd and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Aaron Douglas, Fredrick Douglas and Walter B. Ward, Jr.; five sisters, Gilda Spearman, Loetta Wilkins, Doris Sterling, Christine Lewis and Gertrude Waters.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Saint Paul A. M.E church, forth St. and Broadway Crisfield, MD with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will be also be held 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 29, 2023 at the church.

Interment will be John Wesley U.M.C cemetery in Marion Station, MD.

  5. I’m still in shock to hear of Darlene’s passing. I worked with her for years in the seafood industry. She had a laugh that was contagious. She was a very sweet person inside and out. She will be missed by all. My condolences to the family.

  6. Words cannot express how sad I feel at this time. I worked with Darlene for many years at Tawes Nursing
    Home. She could make you laugh when you didn’t want to. I’m going to miss her. Being at work will not be the same. My prayers to the family. May God give you peace and comfort.

I met Darlene while working at Tawes Nursing Home if Darlene wasn’t there to cook I would very seldom eat lunch the laughter from her in that cafeteria would make whatever you were going through seem so much better never seen her without a smile my condolences to her family I pray that God give you all strength during this difficult time

  13. Darlene was always a joyful person. She will truly be missed. I didn’t know she had been living on Browns Court all this time. My condolences 🙏🏽 and prayers to the family. 1 just never know when our time is up.

  14. I’m just hearing of your passing my sweet friend. We became friends almost instantly when I met you while I was working at Hoyt Harbor. I will miss them wonderful hugs and your sweet self. Darlene there won’t be a cheesesteak ever made again that I won’t think of you. I love you and will miss you terribly.
