Ethel Mae Collins Jones

Ethel Mae Collins Jones was the daughter of the late Frank and Lila Collins.  Born on January 15, 1941, and departed this life on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Manokin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Princess Anne, Maryland.

Ethel received her education in the Public Schools in Somerset County, Maryland.  She was employed by Manokin Manor for many years.  In her later years she became a foster grandparent for Shore, Up! Inc. where she worked until her recent illness.

Ethel enjoyed westerns, feeding her cat and cooking.  She was well known for her good pot of greens.

Ethel loved the Lord and was kind and giving person to all she met.  Ethel was a former member of Mt. Hope A.M.E. Zion Church in Princess Anne.  She later became a member of New Psalmist Non-Denominational Church in Westover, Maryland, where the Pastor id Rev. Glendon Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory with seven children, Thomas Stevenson (Crystal) of Alexandria, Virginia, Charlene Tilghman (Brad) of Princess Anne, Paulette Cottman (Kevin) of Eden, Maryland, Carla Miles of Salisbury, Maryland, Paul Curtis of Columbia, Maryland, Andy Harmon of Baltimore, Maryland, and Keith Curtis (Nechelle) of Middletown, Delaware; one sister, Mary Robinson of Princess Anne; one step daughter, Sabrina Jones; one step granddaughter, Shirley Jones, both of Salisbury; a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; nephews, nieces; cousins; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, George Jones “Georgie B.” and two sisters, Ella Collins, and Helen Collick.

Special thanks to her care takers who were with her until the end. Special thanks to the ladies and gentlemen at Loretta Village for their acts od kindness, always looking out for her.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne with a viewing two hours prior. Interment will follow at John Wesley (Bowland Hill) Cemetery in Princess Anne.

  4. My step-mom whom I love like a mother the only mother I have ever known. I will surely miss you and your lovely smile as you affectionately would tell me I do not have steps I am your mom so mom you are no longer suffering and you are in heaven with your husband my dad.
