James “Edward” White

James Edward White, Sr., son of the late Wallace White and Emma Woolford White, was born on March 31, 1938. He departed this life on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital, Salisbury, MD.

Edward was educated in the Somerset County Public Schools. His employment included Green Giant, Campbell Soup Co. and Bob Lawrence Volkswagen in Salisbury, MD. In 1970, he relocated and began working for Ritter Datsun in White Plains, MD and later Ritter Nissan in Waldorf, MD where he left to start his own business, C&W Automotive, where he worked until his retirement. He had a love for fishing, hunting, and working on cars.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Bernice Stevenson White, who he shared his life with for 56 years. Together they raised his great-nephew Shelton Barkley of Princess Anne, MD as their son and a special niece, Andrea (Gerry) Hall of Upper Marlboro, MD. He also leaves his children Althea White (Reginald) of Delmar, MD; Joyce (Omar) Cottman of Princess Anne, MD; Edwin (Gracie) Jones of Louisburg, NC; Joe Shelton of Venton, MD; Charise (Vincent) White-Morton of Lexington Park, MD; Terry (Belinda) Cannon of Pocomoke, MD; Patrice Harper of Philadelphia, PA; Keisha Hamilton of Salisbury, MD; one aunt, Jessie Spence of Willingboro, NJ; one sister-in-law, Brenda (William) Stansbury of Annapolis, MD and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son James E. White, Jr.; four sisters, Peggy Ashford, Betty Burke, Barbara White and Edna Hall; two brothers, Wallace White and Raymond Holbrook.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 30522 Dr. William P. Hytche Blvd in Princess Anne, MD with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday, April 19, 2024 at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne.

Interment will follow at Grace Cemetery in Venton, MD.

To Uncle Edward my fondest memories with you are our many fishing trips with you, my dad, uncle Wallace and uncle Roland., hanging out with you and Aunt Cookie at the Club and all of the Family BBQ’s. Those were some of the best times of my Life. You are loved by so many and will be missed by so many more. Love you Kippi❤️ Rest Well❤️
