Reflections of Life

Sherman John Gregory, Sr. was called to rest on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the age of 85.  Sherman was born on February 22, 1939, in Virginia, to the late Annie Dennis and John Gregory.

Sherman was a loving father who cherished his family and adored and always bragged about his kids, especially his grandkids.  Sherman had close relationships with his family, brothers and cousins.  Sherman worked many jobs throughout his life which included work as a truck driver and in the seafood industry.

Sherman served as a proud member of the Crisfield Pride Elks Lodge #194.  Sherman was always full of life.  No matter where he was, you knew Sherman was around by his hearty laugh.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Teresa Fosque; one son, Sherman Gregory, Jr.; his brothers, Anthony and Quinten Jackson; grandchildren, Carl Fosque, Jr., Latisha Fosque, Terrence Fosque, Sherman Gregory III, Devin Gregory, Sha’meriah and Stanley Whidbee; great grandchildren, De’Mareyon Styles, Amoni Maddox, Skailyn Snead and a host of nephews, nieces and other family and friends.

In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and William Henry Gregory, sister, Shirley Battle and son, Carl Fosque, Sr.

We all love and will miss Sherman (Daddy, Dad, Pop-Pop) very much.

A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church, 4th and Broadway in Crisfield, MD with a viewing one-hour prior. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2025, at the church where Ceremonial Rites will be performed by Crisfield Pride Elks Lodge #194 at 7:00 PM.

Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery near Crisfield.

  1. We are saddened to hear of Sherman’s passing. He was a good friend to us and always seemed to be joyful. We will miss him. May he Rest In Peace.

  2. May Sherman rest in heavenly peace. Now he’s up there cutting up with his buddies from back in the day…mom, Chatter, and Nin. There were others but I remember them the most. The laughter mainly. No days like those. Blessings and prayers to the family. -Katrina

  4. I am so sadden to hear “Daddy Sher” has Gone Home. He & Non were so good to me Ralph & Kathy back in the days we were neighbors. We became family. We played, we shared, we loved.
    If you knew Daddy Sherm there is one thing you would never forget, his laugh! You had to laugh right along with him. I am so glad that Nin, Daddy Sherm and each of you were a part of my growing up!

  5. Mr. Sherman was a good soul, he could make you laugh just by calling your name in a way only he could do. Gina and I enjoyed our visits with him at the nursing home, he always had us laughing and was happy that we stopped in to share time with him. R.I.P Mr. Sherman God Bless!

  7. Very sorry to hear about Sherman. He will long be remembered as a positive person. He truly appreciated life and enjoyed even the small things.

  8. We enjoyed spending time together talking and sharing our life with Sherman . One of our favorite cousin. We thank God for the time together over the years. We will miss him. May God comfort the family during this time.

  9. My favorite Uncle he was a beautiful soul. He was the life of the party you could say he always had jokes and was very funny and a natural comic. He would have you rolling on the floor laughing with most of the conversations that he and his brother William and Coklyn had. Unc would always come and visit us everytime he came to philly. I pray that Jehovah god gives our family the comfort to get through this. P.I.P Uncle Sherman I love you to infinity.
