Prentiss John Ward, born on May 8, 1991, in Salisbury, MD was sent to his eternal home on March 25, 2025, in Charlotte, NC. He was the beloved son of Qunita White (Lawrence), Muhaymeen Shakur (Jennifer) and Donald Waters, Jr.
Junnie, as he was affectionately known, had a love for family, especially his daughter who was the apple of his eye, his close friends and his dog, Diamond. His passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
After graduating from Crisfield High School in 2010, Prentiss joined the workforce. He held positions at Somerset Community Services, Rubberset and finally at Graybar in Charotte, NC.
Prentiss was very quiet and had a smile that would melt your heart. Junnie was never hard to find if he wasn’t at home with Ayonna and Amiyah, or playing video games, you could find him on the phone or hanging out with his “Marion Crew”, Trey White, Keith and Kevin Hall, Joshua Scarbough, and Elias Avila. Being raised on Landon Store Road in Marion he developed a love of animals, especially dogs.
His journey on Earth was marked by love, laughter, compassion and his faith in God. He would often send his mother scriptures to start her day.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Amiyah Ward; the love of his life and mother of his child, Ayonna Marshall; brothers, Donald Waters, III, Tevin Ward, Malik Shakur, Marc Fontaine and Neaven Nasuro; sisters, Juanita Waters, Shakira Shakur, Shariah Shakur and Arion Maddox Waters; aunts, Crystal Fields, Cynthia Brown (Donald), Laura Parker (Tim), Lynnell Pugh (Tom) and Nicole Miles (Kevin); uncles, Leroy Fields, Cedric Ward and Ryan Waters (Calandra); grandfathers, Donald Fletcher and Donald Waters, Sr.; grandmother, Barbara Ward; he also leaves to cherish fond memories with his close friends, Keevon Bishop, Daniel Stallings, Mike Tyler, Dom Esposito and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, great aunts and uncles.
Prentiss was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Mary “Moochie” Fields, and Barbara Waters, and grandfather, George Ward, Sr.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Marion (Handy) United Methodist Church, 5630 Tulls Corner Road, Marion Station with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00 PM- 6:00 PM Friday, April 18, 2025, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD.
