Joyce Ann Polk

Joyce Ann Polk departed this life on Saturday, March 29, 2025.  Born on January 25, 1952, to the late Minnie Palmer and Wesley White, Sr. of Princess Anne, MD.  She was reared by the late George “Al” Palmer, Sr.

Joyce Ann was educated in the Somerset County Public School System in Princess Anne.  She is married to David “Fuzzy” Polk, Sr.  Joyce Ann worked at the Jody Shirt Factory in Fruitland, MD until the company went out of business than she became a grandmother and housewife to provide daycare for her grandchildren.  She also provided daycare for many more relatives and family friends’ children.

Joyce Ann was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Princess Anne and would attend occasionally until her health failed.  Joyce was joyful, optimist, young-at-heart, caring and eccentric, to know her was to love her.

Joyce Ann leaves to cherish her husband of 55 years, David “Fuzzy” Polk, Sr.; a daughter, Karen Corbin; a son, David Polk, Jr. all of Princess Anne; one biological sister, Hattie Palmer (Perry Banks);  one step-sister, Karen Robinson; two biological brothers, Bruce Palmer and George Palmer; one step-brother, Muriel Robinson (Cassandra); one uncle, James Mullen; seven grandchildren, KaToya Manns (Treyton), Deona Polk-Milbourne, Michael Ware, Ty’Daisha Polk, Janea Polk, Serenity Polk, and Kalayah Polk; four devoted goddaughters, Sharina Hall, Ashley Duston (Edward), Trina Hall and Aunshae Cottman; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley White; five brothers, Nathaniel Mullen, Cleveland Palmer, Wesley “Rudolph” White, Jr., Alfred Palmer and Donald White.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 30683 Hampden Avenue, Princess Anne with a viewing one-hour prior, viewing  and visitation will be held 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday, April 11, 2025, at the church.

Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
