Herman Jesse Maddox, Sr.

Herman Jesse Maddox, Sr., 70, of Princess Anne, MD was born December 23, 1954, to the late Herman Maddox and Annabelle Dennis.  After a long battle with illness, he made his transition to his heavenly father on Wednesday April 16, 2025, at 8:45 a.m. at Tidal Health, Salisbury, MD.

Herman “Moleman” as he was affectionately called by everyone that knew him was reared in Princess Anne and attended the Old Washington Senior High School and graduated with the Class of 1972.  He worked at the Eder Lumber yard and Parker Concrete in Fruitland, MD until became disabled.  He was an outstanding hunter and fisherman.  Herman loved his family which included, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his only brother.  He would always brag on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also a community coach for Washington High School Girls Basketball and Princess Anne Little League. Moleman loved to call family every day to see who was cooking, then if they were not, he would call our cousin Mary Louise because he knew he would get a home cooked meal. Moleman was a friend to all people black and white.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Jean; six children, Nicole Wigfall (Tenn.), Thomas Wigfall (Alaska) and Travis Walston (Pam), all of Princess Anne, Herman Jr. (Lynette) of Laurel, DE, Keisha of Princess Anne and Tiffany of Salisbury; one brother, Milton Maddox; special grandson and caregiver, Darnell; 22 grandchildren, Darnell Douling, Jr., Ayanna Jones, Aniyah Jones, Jinasia Dixon, Aveon Maddox, Jaden Maddox, Amir Maddox, Tyjai Maddox, Elijah Maddox, Baby Boy Maddox, Gianni Martin, Abraham Maddox, Anna’Belle Maddox, Samson “Smoke” Maddox, Michael White, Jr., Rayanna Holbrook, Myrah Walston, Reginald Mills, Jr, Shaquille Mills, Tavon Mills, Dy’ajanae Wigfall, and Daniya Wigfall; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Ann Walston and Brenda Terrell, three brothers-in-law; Woodland James, Clifford James and Kenneth James; special friends, Chuck, Jimmy Greene, Crockett, and Jeff; two nephews, Brandon, and Kahari Maddox; his companion dog, Lily as well as a host of warmhearted cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death, his parents, Herman, and Annabelle Maddox.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, Apri 26, 2025, at Mount Hope A.M.E Zion Church, 11250 Greenwood Road, Princess Anne, MD with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2025, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral in Princess Anne.

Interment will follow at The Family Cemetery, in Marion Station, MD.

One of the greatest friends someone could have.my prayers to his family who have the greatest loss..he loved all his family and would come tell me when they had a great achievement..he was so proud of them all..I will miss your hey what ya cookin calls but just wait I’ll be there eventually and we will cook up them fresh cut Brussel sprouts together..till we meet again my friend…
