Sharon L. Ballard

The life of our beloved Sharon Lee Ballard, (aka,Mother Nature/Cutty), began on March 16, 1953, in Salisbury, Maryland to the late Isaac Ballard Sr. and Cecie Handy Ballard. She departed this life unexpectantly on the evening of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

Sharon received her education through the Somerset County Public School System and graduated from Washington High School in 1971. After graduation, she entered the workforce, holding positions at the Princess Anne Shirt Factory, Perdue Farms, and Buddy Boy. In 1987, she began her 17-year career as a correctional officer at the Eastern Correctional Institution. Later, in 2006, she joined Sherwin-Williams where she worked faithfully until her retirement in 2023.

Sharon began her spiritual journey with Christ many years ago, following in the footsteps of her father. Her life was a reflection of unwavering dedication to her ministry, her family, and her community. She consistently walked in selflessness, representing Christ in all she did. Sharon served faithfully as Lay Minister at Trinity United Methodist Community Worship Center in Mount Vernon. She was a pillar of strength and encouragement, always ready with a kind word and unafraid to speak the truth in love. She was a woman rooted in the Word, empowered by the Spirit, and committed to prayer. Her faith was not only evident, but it was also the foundation of her life!

Her children were the joy of her life, and the bonds of family were the cornerstone of Sharon’s world. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and shut-in, offering clothing and comfort without hesitation. Her generosity, love, and wisdom earned her the deep respect and admiration of all who knew her.

Sharon was a true diva, expressing her vibrant spirit through fashion. You couldn’t outdress her she had a style all her own, bold, elegant, and unforgettable. Her presence lit up every room, not just because of what she wore, but because of the confidence, grace, and joy she carried with her. Sharon found joy and fellowship at the MAC Center, where she loved spending time with her friends. She also had a special love for TV game shows – Wheel of Fortune and The Chase were her favorites. She recorded every episode to make sure she never missed a moment.

Sharon leaves behind to cherish fond memories: her daughter, Nicole Bozman (Tywuan); son, Frederick Wheatley III (Andrea); grandchildren,  Ravon Collins (Julie), Ver’Shon Wheatley, Demyra Selby, Nevaeh Wheatley, Jasmin Jones, Alexis Jones; great grandchildren:, Noah Collins; Brayden Butler, Jase Arieta, Ava Butler; brothers, Apostle Isaac Ballard, Jr. (Hazel), Deacon Jesse Ballard (Lula), Paul Ballard, Michael Ballard (Dorine), and brother/dad Calvin Ballard (Sharonne); sisters, Mildred Ballard and Vanessa Carter (Rudy); special sons, Ernest Tilghman and David Dixon; godchildren, Karen Wells, Dawnette Davis, Shenitta Armstrong, Timia Ballard, DeJae Hayward, and Tracy Roberts; best friends, Sharon Corbin, Apostle Gladys Johnson, Jackie Fisher, Reverend Cherry Doane and Bernetta “Baba” Conway; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other in-laws, and friends.
