Ophelia Waters

Ophelia Waters, 59, affectionately known as Phelia and Phee to many, was born December 9, 1965, to the late Mildred Waters and Randolph Jones. She accepted Christ as her personal savior and was called from labor to reward on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Tidal Health Hospital, in Salisbury, MD.

She was educated in the Somerset County Public School System. She was employed by Howard Johnson, Servpro, and several side jobs.

Phelia was known to be straight forward and was highly respected. She was strong-willed and a hard worker, and she helped provide for anyone who was in need.

Phelia proudly embraced black and purple colors of her favorite football team, the Baltimore Ravens. She spent many of her days enjoying family especially always on the phone for hours with sister, Joan and brother, TC, Wayne.  She enjoyed Bible Study on Wednesday with her church family, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Phelia enjoyed being the neighborhood Mom Phee or Aunt Phee to so many. She would call up her nephew DJ or niece Camesa to take her to the grocery store, so she could be the hood store to so many children and adults. Everyone loved “Phee”. She always left a lasting impression on those she came across and will be deeply missed by her loved ones and friends. Her courage, strength, and personality will never be forgotten as she will continue to live through us all. She was a dedicated Usher and faithful Armor Bearer for Solid Rock Harvest Time Ministries in Princess Anne, MD.

Phelia leaves to mourn and cherish precious memories: her son, Tremaine Waters, Sr. (Tiffany); daughter, Keri Crump; special son, Jayson Collick; brother, Gregory (TC) Waters of Salisbury; sister, Donzell Walker of New Jersey; brother-in-Law, Master Sargent William Fields of Virginia; three grandchildren, Tremaine Waters Jr, Za’Liyah Crump, and Q’mir Crump.

Phelia was raised in the house with her late Aunt Eula Mae Hayman and under that roof she gained first cousins who was raised as siblings, Vivian Hayman, Joan Hayman, and George Hayman all of Princess Anne; Wayne Hayman of Berlin MD, Calvin Whitney (Diana) of Milsboro, DE and Sylvester Hayman of Louisiana; a devoted nephew, David Phillips, Jr.; a devoted niece, Camesa Phillips; a special friend, Willie Russell, Sr.; two special sons, Derrick Russell and Willie Russell, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and bonus children.

In addition to her parents, Phelia was preceded in death by two sisters, Amelia Fields and Dorothy Mae Waters-Jones; two brother/cousins, Issac (Ike) Hayman and William (Billy) Dashields as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 30522 Dr. William P. Hytche Boulevard, Princess Anne, MD with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will also be held 2:00PM-6:00PM Friday, August 1, 2025, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD. Interment will follow at John Wesley Cemetery (Bowland Hill) in Princess Anne.
