Denise M. Handy-Moss

Denise Mary Handy-Moss, known as Neicey or Lil Mary, gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Neicey as she was affectionately called was born July 5, 1962, to the late Mary Madeline Handy and the late William Campbell, Jr.

Neicey was educated in the Somerset County Public School System where she was a member of the dance club under the instruction of Mr. Donald Whittington affectionately called Mr. Whit and she was one of the well-known cheerleaders at Crisfield High School, where she was known for being the lead for their many infamous cheers. Although she was small in stature, she had a strong and mighty voice.

She attended Wor-Wic Community College and majored in Childhood Education and Healthcare Education.  She was employed with the Wicomico County Schools until her health failed.

Neicey married Roger Moss, Sr, in 2006 and enjoyed being married. She loved her married life, and she enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, soap operas, shopping and eating at her favorite restaurants “Red Lobster” and “Olive Garden”.

Neicey was well known for her Betty Wright performance, “Clean Up Woman” and Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” She was an awesome performer and did it well.

Neicey accepted Jesus in her life. Through Deeper life Ministries.

She leaves to cherish found memories with her husband, Roger Moss, Sr.; two sons, Daron Handy and Denzel Handy; three bonus children, Latoya Ross, Michelle Ross, and Roger Moss, Jr.; three granddaughters, Jisuan Crosell, Ashyah Corbin, Skye Wolford, one grandson, Brayden Handy; four sisters, Angel, Handy of Crisfield, Rita Moore of Fayetteville, NC, Yvonne “Bonnie” Whittington (Michael) of Princess Anne, MD, and Rhonda Campbell Evans (Rashaan) of Salisbury, MD; four brothers, Leroy Handy, Jr. of TN, William Campbell III of Baltimore, MD, Liddell Ward (Jackie) of Salisbury, and Ronald Campbell; one aunt, Betty Rolley  of Athens GA; a special niece, Nakomi  Taylor who she helped to raise as her own; Also Mourning her loss are numerous other “Besties” and a a host of other nieces,  nephews, cousins and friends,

In addition to her parents, Neicey was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Corbin, Jr.; stepfather, Leroy Handy, Sr.; aunts, Rosalie Harris, Florence Campbell, Mable Campbell, Gladys Campbell, and Diane Campbell; three uncles, Joseph Norfleet Sr. (Jabo), Herman Campbell and Harvey Campbell.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Crisfield High School and Academy, 210 N. Somerset Avenue, Crisfield, MD with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will also be held 3:00 PM-6:00PM Friday, October 17, 2025, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne.
Interment will be at Union Asbury Cemetery in Crisfield.

We have been close ever since. She was the most devoted person I know. Always made sure her husband, sons, family and friends were good. I’m going to miss you deeply friend.     Wow, what times you, me, Angel, Pat, Barry and Leroy had between your house and grandma’s. From cousin Mary and grandma’s cooking, we sure had the best meals in Crisfield. Growing up we had our memories and some really good times.
    You will be missed. I pray for piece, comfort, loving thoughts to the family, friends and others. May God’s presence embrace you all and provide the strength to carry on.

  17. Wow! No matter the time nor place, running into Niecy was always a great thing. She always had a smile on her face and good energy. During the summers in Crisfield, I remember hanging with her, Cloradine, Tonya, Carolyn and Neenie. We had some good times growing up. Family, you definitely gained an angel in heaven…smiling down on you, while keeping watch. Heartfelt condolences go out to you and may God bless you.

  22. With heartfelt condolences, I am so sorry for your loss. I met Necie when she was hanging out with my sister Dana( whom has gone home to be with the Lord already).   23. Sending prayers for comfort to the family. My memories of all the fun times shared from her living in Marion next to my grandmother to the many fun times cheering, dance club and all our Class of 1982 shenanigans. Whenever I ran into her it was a pleasure to catch up. May God provide everything her husband, children and entire family need to strengthen them over the days, months and years ahead so the memories never leave their hearts.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Denise was a wonderful and kind hearted person, I know because I used to work with her years ago at Mcready Memorial Hospital in Cristfield Maryland as CNA’s and I gained a lot of knowledge and experience from her as my little trainer and coworker and I will always miss her dearly.
